YOUTH

Youth comes to a belated close with a bang. Since it's the weekend, I figured it'd be a good time for party tunes, and this is nothing less than a feel-good disco workout. It's Youth's edit of the classic Rapper's Delight from Sugarhill Gang. Inspired right? Suss it, love it, and remember who's behind it. Youth.

YOUTH

Another day, another slice of disco magic from the one and only Youth. Maybe it's because I'm posting his tracks everywhere and thusly am overcome by all things Youth-related, but the kid really seems to be on top of his game. This track is no exception. A very tasty rework of Dancer from disco pioneer Gino Soccio. While other kids are citing super-recent producers as their main influences, Youth takes it back to the golden era, showing a reverence for heritage. Big ups.

YOUTH

This week-long profile on Australian wonderboy Youth keeps getting better. On Monday I let loose his cheeky Bloody Beetroots edit, yesterday I dropped his smoking hot rework of The Bucketheads' The Bomb, and now it's time for some more remix action, this time for up and coming Swiss kids Strandhotel Markus. Obviously they've got good ears and know of Youth's golden touch, as they got him to remix their tune Disco! Disco! and it sounds great. Pairing Youth's cosmic-disco flourishes with the thick foreign language just makes this such a terrific slice of what I'm going to call mystery-disco. Grab it now.

Considering this one has been out on the blogs for a few minutes now, I'd be remiss not to offer y'all a little something extra with this post, so 'ave it, Youth's latest mix, Solstice. Every mix I've posted of the dude's has gotten buzzing reactions, and this may be one his best yet. Scope the tracklist below for some true gems, including a new Youth original Summer Nights, which is set to appear on a future release with Cousin Cole and Pocketknife's Flagrant Fowl imprint. Kid is going places. Go go go!

YOUTH

Youth Week continues with another stellar production from Hyperbole's favourite Queensland kid. This time Youth lends his super-spry fingers to an edit of the seminal Bucketheads jam The Bomb. It's a real tasty throwback to that big '90s sound, and Youth handles it with utter precision.

YOUTH

Inactivity sucks. There, I said it. It sucks. So by extension, I suck. Again, apologies for the tumbleweeds rolling through this blog, unfortunately my attention has been needed everywhere else and something had to suffer for it. But I’m here to redeem myself with the only thing that matters; music.

To get the ball rolling, I figured it was about time to swing the spotlight over to one of this blog’s favourite people, Youth. I say it, and I repeat it a-milli times over, this dude is incredible. He’s fun, entertaining but with a really impressive sophisticated edge to his productions. And he’s been heaps busy recently, and accordingly has a swag of goodies to share with us all.

So this week is all about Youth, everyday I’ll be posting something from him and hopefully you’ll convert to the disco-rainbow light. Welcome to Youth Week.

First up is Youth’s tasty little edit of The Bloody Beetroots & Steve Aoki’s enormous tune Warp. Youth takes the cheeky route with this mix, retaining all the best bits from the original tune whilst seamlessly adding in elements from Cassius’ Toop Toop. Oh and scope the piano line! Major.

THIEVES LIKE US

Dudes, majorly sorry for lack of activity here. What can I say? A new job and little time for anything else has hampered my blogging and I know it sucks. I'm doing what I can take bring Hyperbole back up to the position it used to be in, I know it's been a bumpy few months. Involved in that you'll see a lot of new things which I can't talk about just yet. But still, wonderful new music will be the focus. So stay tuned.

In the meantime, dig this track from the new Thieves Like Us EP, Really Like To See You Again. The titular jam takes the band one step closer to their New Order-styled dreams and really solidifies how enjoyable they are as a group.

DCUP

Kiwi prog-poppers Evermore aren't exactly standard fare around this blog, but that's about to change thanks to this extra-terrestrial remix from Sydney funkster DCUP. Fresh off a stellar bunch of tracks I already posted from the dude, DCUP is back and spinning the original into a shaking stomper of a track. Another reason that people should be paying attention to him.
