Why does everyone cream for Crookers? Everytime something new from them drops my only reaction is one of utter bewilderment. Uh, another fucking Crookers remix. Fucking groan. Let's be serious people, cut the bullshit. What's the appeal here? I find their wonk stuff so intolerably bland and boring. But time and time again they'll be ruling the Hype Machine charts and are uttered in the same breath as the likes of MSTRKRFT, Beetroots and Ed Banger. At least those peeps can churn out an interesting couple of minutes. Yeah I kind of dug that one they did with Kid Cudi, but that's not enough win me over. Ok, they may be slightly overrated, but they still have their moments. I really enjoyed their essential mix and the Busy P, Cudi and Rimini remixes, but a lot of their own stuff is pretty meh..

if you push out enough remixes, you're going to hit the mark every 15 or so. consistency should be more highly valued.

Crookers are on the same note as MSTRKRFT For me. Every once in a while they come out with a really great remix, or a really great original, but in between these tracks theres like 40,000 shit remixes that just kill songs.

to be honest, i really loved crookers' early stuff like big money comin' and knobbers, when wonk was new to me. the wobble was fresh and sounded great on a big system. but that sound got tired real quick, much like the beetroots (well they were always shit in my eyes, one trick pony's playing to crowds of sheep). crookers have breaths of fresh air every 10 remixes or so, but the rest is for the birds.

Crookers like Mstrkrft came out with a unique sound and did advance things a bit which you have to give them credit for. Their sound isn't that novel anymore and a lot sounds the same and as if it was made 5 minutes too.
They have put out some gems that have made a lot of people dance their ass off so you shouldn't hate just because everyone is in cool off disco mode now.
yeah they lack consistency but they pull out huge bangers and they do them properly. formulaic? yes. overplayed? yes boring? no fucking chance, some of you people need to relax and have some fun.

u need to understand the their roots to hip hop and how they fuse hip hop beets with an electro house feel. Its not about hype, if you can understand what they try and create with their sound and how unique it is. Obviously you don't listen to it loud enough. Seems to me they just take perfectly good songs and butcher them into club hits. But as soon as they get posted on a blog, everybody and their mom hear it and the artist is caught up in the viral whirlwind and all of the "hype"! got to say i felt the same way for about 6 months but lately they've been growing a bit on me. honestly only useful for a quick breakdown in a set otherwise it bores people... the radio1 mix is stellar though and they keep it varied enough so as to keep me interested. feel free to disagree.
