JAPAN: DAY TWO

We are brave. Let me explain. Today, after scaling the enormous Floating Garden Observatory of Umeda (which, honestly, didn't have much of a garden but was still super terrifying if you're a big girl like me) we wandered around looking for a place to fill our tummies, and we stumbled into a little restaurant, where they spoke no English and we just pointed at some indecipherable (to our eyes that is) text and went with that for lunch.

It could've back fired for us in a big way but we were happy to receive two lovely dishes of pork and beef, simmering in great sauce, with miso and some rice too. For 1500 Yen ($15ish AUS), that's soooo good. In a way I was relieved about the lunch, but I also set myself a task to try anything that is put in front of me, as I did tonight with the strange yet tasty Japanese pizza. I also went in for some meat skewers, asking for beef, only to find the beef meat was not red meat. Oh shit. Tripe? Scrotum? Who knows what it was. All I know is it was chewy as hell.


But it was a good day, stomach lining aside! We bought our first umbrella (woo!), contemplated buying a bike and shipping it back to Australia (everyone has the coolest bikes over here. Major two wheel envy), and practised our lousy Japanese on the locals. Lots of fun.

Tomorrow we leave Osaka and head to Koyosan, where we'll stay at the Ekoin buddhist temple. Really looking forward to that. Until tomorrow (hopefully), I leave you with a live cut from the Soulwax flick, Part Of The Weekend Never Dies. Get all the Parklifers excited.
