Eight Maids A-Milking

Even though we're in countdown mode and getting ready to farewell 2007, the year is still throwing up some neat little surprises for those on the hunt for good music. Like me for instance. It happened just the other day when I discovered that dear old Zoot Woman had come back with a smoking hot new single. I had heard little things here and there reporting that Zoot Woman were indeed coming out of the woodwork with some new stuff but dismissed it straight off. Jacques Lu Cont is busy enough without Zoot Woman duties. But yet here we are, Zoot Woman are here with We Won't Break, a seemingly fitting statement about the band's return to the bright lights. And it really makes sense when you think about it. Like Fischerspooner, who're also releasing some new stuff, the time couldn't be more suited for Zoot Woman to make a comeback. Although they were often derided during the electro-clash days for being oh-so slick, now the stage seems about set for Zoot Woman to get the kind of critical and commercial euphoria they so rightly deserved back then. Electronic music couldn't be much bigger right now, so surely Zoot Woman can (re)claim their throne as the princes of the synth when they drop a new full length. Oh yeah.

Zoot Woman - We Won't Break

Here's some older Zoot stuff for the unenlightened, including their pretty terrific cover of Kraftwerk's The Model and lastly the band's synth-ed up mix of Too Young. Enjoy.
