Roc Boys In The Building Tonight

We're back. Sorry for the lack of action around here people. That's all I can say really. Sorry. There's no excuses, no long winded stories, nuthin'! Just sorry. Uni's over now (for good!) so I've got some free time up my sleeves, perfect for spreading the MP3 loving. I've got a lot of stuff to cover so it's difficult to know where to start, really. We may as well just jump straight into the remixes though, as, after all, that's what the blogosphere is about, right? Right? Boo yah.

Remix Fix
I've got loads of good stuff here, a little old, a little new, but all certified stunners. Shall we? Let's begin with JFK's remix of Flux. No surprises there, it's a banger. And sure everyone and their mama is posting this one at the moment, but it's so damn good that I had to do it. Get into children.

With that out of the way, here's some gold which I've been hanging onto for a while now. Check these babies out. Absolutely brilliant remixes of Metric, Digitalism and Aries Noise (as slammed against the wall of Air War by Crystal Castles, no less!).

Moving along, I've also brought some major hotness with this sucker, 25 Hours A Day's remix for Cassius. 25HAD kills it. Every time.

Young (and I mean young) Aussie upstart, Hubert sent me over a bunch of edits which I've been meaning to slap up here for too long now. Check his skills on these two Justice remixes. I like them more and more with each listen.

Justice - Phantom Pt. II (Hubert Remix)

Justice - One Minute To Midnight (Hubert Remix)

At the risk of sounding like an info-mercial for pro-active WAIT THERE'S MORE!

Here's another wonderful mix (as always) by Sydney knock abouts, Bag Raiders. I am so glad they got their hands on this tune, because they've turned it into an even bigger smash and it's even more epic than before. Is Bag Raiders. Is Good. Go. Get. It. Now.

Midnight Juggernauts - Twenty Thousand Leagues (Bag Raiders Remix) [HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION]

Luciano from one of the most exciting acts around right now, The Twelves (duh!), just sent me over this baby, and I am loving it. Kylie's 2 Hearts is finally the disco song I wanted it to be. Smashing stuff.

Kylie - 2 Hearts (The Twelves Remix) [PREMIERE]

And because you all need more D.A.N.C.E. remixes clogging up your iTunes like tar in a smoker's lungs, grab this nifty Bumblebeez edit. As you'd expect from the Braidwood gang, they fuck and chop it up nicely.

Justice - D.A.N.C.E. (Bumblebeez Remix)

It wouldn't be a remix fix without an old-school heavyweight jam to round things out, and that's exactly what this sucker is. Work that booty.

DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince - Boom! Shake The Room (Street Remix)

My People
It would seem that the esteemed vanguard of Australian electro-chic are finally coming back after setting the scene on fire in the last three years. Cut Copy, Van She (more on them later) and the dancefloor princes that comprise the Presets have all got A grade albums on the way. The first taste of the Presets new material comes in My People. Who knew how they'd match the electric highs of Beams, but Julian and Kim have done just that with My People. It's an absolute monster. Big beats, bigger synths and a killer vocal hook make this the club dynamite that it is. Get ready to be singing this on dancefloors for the next year.

The Presets - My People

And as an extra bonus just for you, here's the Presets' mix of AIH's Heart It Races. Sure it's a bit of a head fuck, but it's the Presets. You know it's good.

Architecture In Helsinki - Heart It Races (The Presets Remix) [EXCLUSIVE]

The Cat & The Eye
As promised, let's talk Van She stuff. On the back of their phenomenal EP in late 2005, they're still one of my favourite bands, but damn they've been quiet since then. Reports kept coming that the band we were working diligently on the album, clocking studio time with Cassius and shipping off to London. Just when it felt like they'd dropped off the radar altogether, BAM, The Cat & The Eye drops in everyone's laps. After spending days listening to the single, I'm still not sure exactly what to say. Certainly, I didn't expect this. I expected something more like Sex City or Mission or Surprise from their live sets. Not this. It feels starkly different to anything from the EP, almost psychedelic. The '80s pop vibe is definitely still in tact, which is pleasing, but here Van She have taken their sound to a new level, something they should be commended for. There's a bit of the sonic experimentation of Van She Tech in there, underlined by Matt Van Schie's rumbling bass line, and a sugar-pop chorus. I think I really like it. And from the taste of this curve-ball single, I'm even more excited to hear the new album, due in April 2008. But that's enough out of me. Listen.
